As a DJ, producer, filmmaker, and co-founder of Mutiny, Vivek Bald aka DJ Siraiki is one of the major forces behind the rise of new South Asian music in NYC. Over the past decade, he has built ties across the South Asian second generation, with British Asian artists such as Asian Dub Foundation, Talvin Singh, State of Bengal, Fun Da Mental and others, documenting the development of the British Asian music scene in his film "Mutiny: Asians Storm British Music" and helping bring British Asian artists to US audiences through the Mutiny club nights. Behind the turntables, Siraiki creates a powerful mix of deep drones and dub basslines, rapid-fire breakbeats, and soaring Indian strings and vocals. Siraiki is currently producing a DJ mix CD and a series of original tracks to be released on DJ Spooky's Sychronic Records label, while "Mutiny: Asians Storm British Music" is on the festival circuit and seeking distribution.
