After a historic six-year run, the Mutiny club-night has closed its doors. The final Mutiny club night was a special party following the NYC premiere of the documentary that kicked things off back in 1997, "Mutiny: Asians Storm British Music".
After starting as a series of fundraisers for the film project in 97-98, the Mutiny club night quickly evolved into its own force on the NYC club scene, becoming the first and foremost space in the U.S. for new South Asian electronic music. Bringing artists together from different parts of the South Asian diaspora and across other boundaries of race, ethnicity, and musical style, Mutiny has been a truly unique and groundbreaking club space.
Besides its own musically diverse and innovative crew of resident DJs - Siraiki, Rekha, Navdeep, Anju, and Zakhm - Mutiny has brought to its stage performances by an impressive roster of DJs, MCs, and electronic musicians, including: Talvin Singh, State of Bengal, Asian Dub Foundation, Karsh Kale, DJ Spooky, Fun^Da^Mental, Joi, Badmarsh and Shri, DK/Omzone, DJ Mukul, Midival Punditz, Choque Hosein (Black Star Liner), Badawi, Mutamassik, Singe and Verb, TC Izlam, Mike Ladd, Andy Smith (Portishead), UK Apache, Ming & FS, Swingsett, Doomer, Tigi, Cheb i Sabbah, Janaka, Maneesh the Twister, DJ Sharaab and many others.
Thank you immensely for your generous support over the years and stay tuned as Mutiny crew members move on and branch out into new recording, producing, remix and film projects.
